The creative semester is a chance for students to delve into deeper more specific events and protagonists of the historical time periods they have studied.
A kind of independent research which manifests itself in an artistic project.
Creative Semester is an option some of our families choose after finishing a semester at ANUאנו .
It is a semester of creative output, reflecting upon the content we have mastered in the previous semester.
What this could look like depends on each group.
Past examples include a version of the Dybbuk, connecting to the Diaspora lesson on Ashkenazi Jews.
Students conducted in class research, wrote their own version of the play, acted it out and then filmed with help from their teachers .
Another class chose to create a Zine from the perspective of the Babylonian Jews in exile.
A different group thought about composing their own "Choose your own adventure" from the perspective of a Jewish teenager living in France at the time of the Dreyfus Affair, covered in the Zionism semester.
ANUאנו teachers are all working artists and musicians with years of experience teaching kids and teens.
They guide and focus students' creative ideas, while giving them complete artistic freedom to choose their themes (from the topics covered in the previous semester) as well as their preferred mediums of expression.
All presentations will be recorded and shared with families.
