Zionism and holocaust

Our approach to Zionism is as part of a long history of Jewish life in the land of Israel (as discussed in first semester) until 1948.

We will discuss some major events such as The Dreyfus Affair, The Zionist congress, The Kishinev Pogrom and The Farhud, as well as The Kibbutz, The Hebron Riots, The British Mandate and the war of 1948.

The Holocaust curriculum will trace the timeline beginning with Eugenics, continuing with Nazi propaganda, Segregation, Death squads , The Final Solution and ending with Liberation and Aftermath-raising the questions of Legal versus Just.

As we study about the Holocaust we will focus on Anti Semitic political agendas seeping into higher education and schools and the phenomena of regular people doing harm to their fellow men under the title “The Good Citizen” or for reasons such as career promotion and social stature .
