Discover the Bible as David Ben-Gurion saw it—A historic document affirming the Jewish people’s connection to the Land of Israel.
Ben-Gurion valued its unvarnished realism: a record that neither hides violence nor idealizes its heroes, but tells our story in full humanity.
In our homeland, the revival of Hebrew made it possible to understand the Bible as never before in exile. This lecture series will deepen our own understanding, so we can tell the complete Jewish story—past, present, and future—to the next generation.
Each 45-minute talk is followed by a discussion.
*Class can be taught in English or Hebrew

Formerly a composer and multimedia artist, Yoav Gal turned to education as a second calling. Disillusioned by the ideological rigidity and anti-Israel sentiment in the art world, he sought a more meaningful way to contribute by helping build character and confidence in Jewish youth.
Born in Israel, Yoav moved to New York at 22, where he created critically acclaimed Hebrew-language operas . His artistic work gradually evolved into community-building: he founded cultural and educational initiatives for Israeli-American families, including Hebrew theater, holiday events, and Bible study groups based on Project 929.
Yoav is a teacher of Hebrew, art, Bible, and Jewish history at Emet Classical Academy in Manhattan. He is a candidate for a Master’s in Jewish Education at the Melton School of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, as well as for the Tikvah–University of Dallas Master’s in Classical Education. For Yoav, the classroom has become a new stage for telling the story of the Jewish people.
